With over 4000 acres of rich, black mulching soil, fresh water and semi-open grazing country, Long Island offers the ability to be self-sufficient or to make an income from the land.
 

The opportunity for returns from livestock, whether that be cattle, sheep, deer or goats is supported by improvements including fences and 2 sets of yards. Pasture establishment and timber treatment could increase the number of head of livestock able to be supported by the island.

Long island is Tuberculosis and Bruceliosis free as well as being rodent, marsupial and pest free.

The regions annual rainfall and it's location near the tropic of Capricorn (23°26'30 S) is well suited to beef cattle, small crops and tropical fruit.
